how do i get xbox live 1 month trial?

ok, i registered and got myself a gamertag last night but it says i am a silver member. all new owners of an xbox 360 are supposed to get a one month free trial as a gold member arent we? there was no code in the box with the console.
secondly i only have virgin medias medium 2mb broadband, is that good enough for playing online?

You 2mb Virgin connection should be sufficient, though downloading game demos will obviously take longer than those with a faster connection.
The real issues for online games will be lag on your connection rather than the max connection speed.
However I too am after trial code to Xbox Live.0 -
You should have got a little card included with your Xbox 360 with a code on the back. That code gives you 1 month free

could that be why i am doing so badly? they do seem to be on me really quick and i am dead before i can really do anything. of course it could be that i am just rubbish.
i have sorted it by the way incase you hadnt already guessed. i ended up having to start a new email address and go through the whole process again. i think i will have to get myself a footie game or something else were it is possible to enjoy the game without having to be good coz i could just be part of a team then. fps games seem to only be good online if you are good at the game otherwise you just die all the time. i have been slagging halo 3 on the xbox forums but after having a go at cod4 and gears of war online i see that halo 3 isnt too bad compared to those two games difficulty wise.0 -
So long as you're not torrenting and downloading things on your network while gaming you won't experience bad lag really

i was going to to just play games on the pc but i would have had to spend as much as £250 to get it up to the standard that gets the most out of the games. i thought stuff that i will just get a console. with a console i can play on the big tv.0

keep in mind that i am rubbish at games. i think halo 3 is only worth it for the online play despite what fans of the game have said to me at the moment the offline game and options seem not too good, as i progress i might change my mind. as i am rubbish i get killed very quick online and hardly get any kills myself. a game that is on both pc and 360 that i think is very good is bioshock. there is only one issue i have with it and that is when you are getting zapped with fireballs it can be hard to see were you are at and you can get disorientated. it is a great game though.0 -
