Pension credit confusion 🤯

I know this is a very old comment but it's one of the most shocking things that I've read regarding money online and I just joined up to comment and to post about my situation too maybe.
So husband is earning £1,564.33 per month.
Wife is bringing in £615.33 pension, small private pension say £300 and PIP which was £373.96 at the lowest rates in 2022 (not considering if she got either of the enhanced rates available which would be a lot more).
They're bringing in £2,853.62 per month - basically almost £3K per month?
It's £34,243.44 per year!
And housing costs are only £450?
This is crazy! How are they struggling?
People are living on £1000 for everything - all rent, bills, food, toiletries, clothes, household costs, living costs.
UC is about £400 a month after housing costs.
They have £2403.62 after housing costs. Admittedly I don't know how much is taxed.
Something is going wrong somewhere, some uncovered expenses for them. I hope this got resolved.
I'm shocked.

Yes, it's a 3-and-a-half year old thread you've joined MSE to comment on.
Have you considered that much may have changed in this couple's life?
You may have opened wounds unnecessarily.
