What happens if there is a mistake on our contract?

I have asked solicitor to clarify but had an out of office message saying she’s not back in the office until Tues.

we had our report on title, contracts and TR1 emailed to us late Friday afternoon.  We printed them all off for signing then noticed that my husbands forename has been spelt incorrectly. Do we need the solicitor to issue new contracts with the correct spelling on or can this be amended by hand and initialed?

Solicitor has proposed completion on 21st so we know we need to get documents done quickly in order to exchange.

I had a similar error, didn't get a new contract, so presume it was amended.

Just email your solicitor highlighting the error and they will send a new ones out for you to sign. Shouldn't take long.

You can hand amend the contract yourself - the contracts are just swapped between the purchase and sale solicitors, so amendments by hand are perfectly acceptable.  The TR1 is sent to the Land Registry when registering your ownership after completion.  This document does need to have the correct spelling as this is what will appear on your title - I'm assuming the spelling of your name does match your ID.

Cross through the incorrect name, write the correct one above, initial in the margin to the side and sign. If the solicitor wants to reissue the contract for any reason they’ll let you know - chances are that they won’t worry though - the manuscript amendment will be fine.

The TR1 form is correct was just the contract.  My husband has only just realised his driving licence is incorrect - hence why the issues have arisen but we’ve supplied other ID to rectify.

AS others have said, amend by hand and initial the change, and email your solicitor to explain that htat's what you've done. f they want to issue a clean copy then they can tell you.
