Are the mag daily prize draws worth it for the amount of time spent entering them every day?

Options
I've only been doing them for a few weeks, so most of the competitions I've entered haven't even closed yet, but I'm wondering if anyone who's been doing them for a while has had any success with the mag daily prize draws (cosmopolitan, good housekeeping, etc)?

I don't bother with the match-3 instant win prizes on there, as the odds are obviously ridiculous, but I'm wondering if the daily entry prize draws that run for a month or more are worth the effort either.  At the moment, it takes me around an hour every day to go through all the mag daily sites entering all the comps I'm interested in, but it seems like a lot of effort considering that these draws seem to be quite well known and you pretty much have to enter every day just to have the same odds of winning as a few thousand other hardcore compers, never mind the people who actually read the various magazines.  I'm wondering if it's worth carriyng on with these, or if I'd be better off spending that time looking for single entry competitions instead.  It seems like this kind of daily entry competition is set up to make it look like you can gain an advantage by coming back to enter every day, when really so many people are doing it that all that's really happening is you're putting in more work to get the same odds you'd get if everyone was only allowed to enter once.

Does anyone here win often enough on these to justify the tedious effort of entering them every day?

You could say that about all the competitions we enter! Only you can decide if it’s worth it, but you won’t win if you don’t enter them! I do enter them all each day and I have won from them quite a few times.

Yes, I suppose so, but not all competitions are equal and I like to know if the odds are worth it, so I'm trying to find out roughly how often people who do this actually win on average.  If people are entering every day and winning a prize every couple of months, then I might carry on, but if it's once a year or less, then it seems like I'd be no better off than if I was working for peanuts on Mechanical Turk.
  • I enter everyday during a week, not so much at the weekend, I won only once this year, CLCKR comp, a phone holder thingy, I can't believe how useful it is, they sent 4 pieces but one of them is a hideous leopard print, if anyone wants that one, please let me know.

Quite right about the "number" competitions the ones I glanced at were all a choice from 74 numbers making the odds over 400,000 to 1.

I would also rather enter say 30 different competitions where everyone can only enter once than just one competition where everyone can enter 30 times. I look at it where say the prize is worth £20 and even if I won after entering 30 times then the win is only worth 67p per entry.

Of course you can and people do, win with only 1 entry and no entry = no chance

I was looking at lifedeathprizes and out of the 40 on offer entered 15 of them (didn't realise there was a question to answer and yet another screen to confirm the entry) but only 1 was something I would not giveaway - if there is a winner from the single entries I will say so.

another thing to consider is the share and gain where people are getting up to 15 entries per day per competition so it makes sense to have a comping "buddy" if you bother to enter so you both get the extra entries
Step 2 - As soon as a friend has entered the competition, you'll both gain an additional entry. (Up to 15 entries per day for each competition)

I've won twice in the last two years, which is averaging once a year, but if you take the last four years, I went the first two years without a single win, so in the four year period I'm averaging a win every two years! I suppose I do it for something to do, and it buys a little bit of hope.

Over the number of years I having been entering them I have one a good few thousand pounds worth of prizes on them, so for me it has been worth it.
I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus

I’ve been doing them every day for 4 years now and have been very lucky to win on average about fifteen hundred pounds worth of prize’s a year so for me well worth the time

Wow, that's much better than me. Do you know how many competitions a week you enter on average? I only enter about 30 to 50 competitions a week, so maybe that's why.

I've won some really nice prizes doing MDs. I enter the ones I want to win every day.

  • I've won some great prizes on the mag dailies both from entering regularly and from just entering the once. My best win on them was a holiday to Chamonix which I only entered the once.

It all depends though what mood I'm in if I enter all my bookmarked ones as sometimes I will just enter the ones that I post which I do enter every day so I can check for new ones to get posted the same day they appear.
