How soon after opening an account can I switch it?

Hi. OH has opened a dummy account and it is now accessible from her banking app. However no paperwork received yet. Is it foolish to look to switch it yet? Shall we wait until the paperwork comes through? What’s people’s experience?
Thanks for your help.

There is no hard and fast rule as to how long you need to wait but I'd at least wait until you have the debit card as they ask for the last five digits as part of the switch process.

Depending on the account, you might be able to see the card number in online banking / in the app. So there may or may not be a need for waiting for the physical card.kaMelo said:There is no hard and fast rule as to how long you need to wait but I'd at least wait until you have the debit card as they ask for the last five digits as part of the switch process.
Some switch offers are also calling for DDs, which will take some time to set up.2 -
