Hello again - yesterday's pictures of everyone's log burners is warming me up. It's bitter here, Everything is white outside but don't know if it's another layer of frost, or snow. Was that a picture of Hillend Izzy? we've always loved Weardale, and so do our family. We started to go there when they were little because there was nowhere there to spend money, of which we had none! The kids liked the stream and generally roaming about, and I used to take a huge picnic. Dh and I still go with a picnic, in the summer though! ( but we don't paddle in the stream any more)Coxy, hope you enjoyed your salon day yesterday.Nels, sorry you had a bad experience with AO, I recommended them as well!Dp1, so sorry to read that your dgd is not well again, I hope the hospital can help her .Thoughts to Poppy, and any other poorly people.Take care if you're going out today folks, wrap up warm.11

Morning - thanks for starting us off Scarlet.More deep frost this morning so I'll not be shifting much just yet. I had a trip across the hall to the coffee machine and back, that'll do me for a wee while yet.Going up to Oban yesterday was easy, no commercial wagons to slow the drive down. I didn't linger too long there and was back in double swift time.Much later in the afternoon the postie brought me my first Christmas card 😱 and then the chap up the hill turned up with a very small tree for me. It's still far to big for what I wanted, I've no idea how I'm going to make it stay upright or where to put it. My living room is not very big at all so I'll struggle with it. He means well!
Today I aim to coorie down, there's a lot going on for me next week so I'll gather my strength for it. 😂
Take care everyone, I hope that you can all keep warm and safe. Happy SCD Sunday to all.10 -
Morning all, had a quick flick through yesterdays thread,dp1 sorry little one is back in hospital, hope she gets well soon. Izzy your photos were lovely. We woke to a layer of snow yesterday, pooch had great fun rolling in it. Then a flurry of msgs from DGS football whats app group - was his game on or off? Off! Shortly followed by a call from DS2 who has hurt his ankle during a training session, debating whether to go to A&E and could we come over to look after DGS if he decided yes. He thinks it's an achilles prob, and it is swollen. In the end he put some ankle boots on to support it which felt better,so decided against it as the wait times at our hospital are really bad at the moment . He rested up and DGS had great fun using the snow shovel and ended up helping the neighbours clear their drive too. It all seemed to be melting when I let pooch out earlier but it'll be a problem if it refreezes. We had a selection of snacks & curry before the footie last night, then settled down to watch. Shame about the result.DS1 was meant to be out in town with friends to watch but 1 by 1 they all cancelled.I've got some flat iron steak out for tea,and apple crumble. I might do a bit of baking later but apart from that a lazy day I hope. Gers hope the tree doesn't overwhelm your living room!Hugs to PoppyEnjoy your Sunday folks x

Morning everyone
Snow forecast for later - once I'm back from mam and dads later that will be me in for the rest of the day.
Thanks for all the good wishes for little one - she has a urine infection, ear infection and is badly constipated. She's had an enema and medicine but nothing has worked yet - she was having a milk feed into her tummy last night again as she won't eat. They were moved last night from a short stay ward to a different ward - hoping she'll not be there too long. DD is exhausted as she never sleeps much when they're in hospital, with machines beeping all night.
The pantomime was really good yesterday - I'm there again on Wednesday morning for a schools' performance and then I've booked to take little one next Saturday. Will just have to see what's happening though as she was meant to be with her daddy this weekend.
I had a nice chat with eldest DD in Germany this morning before I got up - she comes home next Sunday for 2 weeks. She says Nuremberg is so crowded with visitors for the Christmas market.
Gers could you put your tree outside with some lights on? Or is that daft when you're surrounded by trees....
Well I'm going to get some jobs done before I go out. I washed my bedding last night and hung it over the airer and bannister to dry - it's only slightly damp this morning so I'll iron it.
I slept in little ones bed and tonight will wash that bedding and put the 'grown up' cover on for DD coming home - though she'd probably like the pretty elephant cover little one has.
Hope everyone has a good day today x10 -
Morning everyone yes that’s hill end scarlet I remember you saying about going there when my kids wer little it was the same picnic and welly’s was a good free day out we still walk with the dog there but all the children and grandchildren are all grown up now we have another hard frost here I decided yesterday to try and get ahead of myself for next year and was checking my new diary and writing things in and making lists of things I need and was happy to find I’ve already bought all next year’s birthday cards and wrote them out when I’ve done this I have no idea but I am determined to be more organised and get some savings I still have a lot I want to do in the house I would be glad if anyone can give me any ideas how to make my kitchen any warmer I have a large kitchen something I’ve always wanted but it has two big patio doors and a big window either side of them and when you walk in the kitchen it literally takes your breath away it’s so cold it’s all brand new double glazing we had put in but it’s freezing. Dp1 I hope the little one is better soon and gets to see the pantomime she’s had a lot to deal with and she’s a little star . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing8

Morning
The first snow yesterday looked so pretty like a Christmas card. It's mostly still there just driven over and a bit slushy.
Course snow and ice is a bit of an enemy for me so no outside activity on the books today. There isn't any space left on my body for any more bruises!
Definitely a PJ day today and I'll hunt around for a soppy Christmas film or two.
DP1. So sorry the little one is back in hospital. Hope they can sort her out quickly so she gets to join in with all the Christmas celebrations
Ruby hope big pup is OK x
I'll dig in the freezer soon for some meat for a bit of of a roast
Have a good day all and keep warm

Morning all
Quick one from me as laptop battery is about to die, no snow herebut a sharp frost it could almost look like snow if you squint !
Tree is up and decorated and I have done the dresser too so it all looks very festive, I just need OH to get my wreath lights out of the loft.
Roast pork for dinner tonight will ask mum if she wants to come.
DP1 hope little one is ok xxx
Take care all and keep warm xxx9 -
Morning all, we've had snow overnight ! It's probably frozen over but I'm not going out to check, I'm staying in the warm where we've got the heating on, again. Yesterday was a pottering about day, so today I should do something more productive like wrapping some presents. I need to sort out the chest freezer, seems the messy elf has been for a visit ! I have a gammon joint in the slow cooker so we'll have some of that for tea as Mr Fix It is still off his food.
At the moment I'm watching a Two Ronnies show, they don't make shows like that any more 😂 I'll have another coffee and then make a start on something but I'm cwtched up warm and I don't particularly want to move from the sofa.
Dp1 bless your little one, she has had more than her fair share of troubles. Hope she gets well very soon.
Izzy does your windows contain air vents ? We have 2 in ours but I've closed one of them for winter time as there's such a draught coming through.
Rosy I hope DS2's ankle is better today.
Take care, stay safe and keep warm everyone. Hugs to all the poorly ones.

Gers could you put your tree outside with some lights on? Or is that daft when you're surrounded by trees....That's some good news DP1 - all the medication and care will really help. Can you DD access respite care or DGD's dad take the little one for a bit longer? I understand that these things are not at all easy so some solutions are not viable. xxYour tree idea may well be genius!I'll try it out later - thanks for the suggestion.

Morning all! Snowing! Unusual for here because usually it just gets dumped over the hills in Marlborough. Fire has been coaxed back to full throttle, dinner is leftover pulled pork and beans so a completely do nothing day which suits me fine. After all the shennanigans ofr getting pary ready, most stuff is done, I have presents to wrap and that's about it for today and I might not even do that. I've had a frugal epiphany this week and decided to see how it goes next year after a serious talk with OH about mortgages and retiring and things like that. But anyway...sner!Gers, your logburner is very very clean! I'd definitely sit in front of it all day. Hope you wrestle your tree into submission..Izzy, I like that you say youre detemrined to be more organised and then you found out you actually ARE organised!
Big thick curtains really help. Especially lined velvet. CSs usually have the big pink ones ut they can be dyed. I had soem wine coloured ones which I dyed with chcolate dye, it dyed the linings and made the wine colour darker and less in your face. p1, hope she responds soon to treatment, poor thing can't know what is going on..Nanny, glad youre cwtched up, I did laugh at you being a mochyn the other day, hadn't heard that for years...hope you and mr fixit are over your d&v! Look after yourselves, stay warm, go invade a neighbour if you can't and shout to the people not feeling great....

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
To sing a love song
While we stroll along
Walking in a winter wonderland
