As a cat owner for many years I get used to the signs of when BOB, my 12 yo male, isn't happy - too much stroking and the teeth come into play.
I came home last night after a social event Bob jumped onto my lap and then tried to bite my nose ! Followed by lots of high speed dashing about.
Could he have reacted to a smell on my clothes ?

Often my cats are extra pouncy and playful if I've been out for a while - especially if I'm home late during their normal 'midnight zoomies' that I'm usually asleep for. I wouldn't worry too much!1

Sometimes they get angry if you haven't been around enough, though a change in your scent can also put them in defensive mode0
