Google map - gone silent - can it be fixed?

Suddenly, and without any reason I can find, Google maps has stopped giving street by street instructions.
Bluetooth works fine, sometimes maps makes a sound, but otherwise its silent.
Without bluetooth no directions either.
Been through Settings, can't find any way to turn it back on.
Ways directions are fine.
Any way to fix this?

You could tell us what your phone is. It might help someone to help you.0

Do you have any games on your phone? If so check the volume setting in the games. If you've turned the speaker off in that, it can affect the map voice - happens with mine every now and then.0
