aaarghh Barclaycard caught me out

in Credit cards
I must be slipping. Credit card companies never usually make anything out of me.
But they finally caught me out and charged me over £50 in foreign transaction fees on my last month's spending.
I've had the card for ages, specifically for spending in foreign currency as there have never been any fees.
Well, I didn't receive anything (letter, e-mail, online message....) to say that was changing, so this month it was a horrible shock that they started charging me 3% on every transaction. I just checked, and it was in the small print on the bottom of last month's statement.

What card version do you have?
currently the Barclaycard Rewards Card is the only one in the line up that does not charge Forex Fees (https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/credit-cards/barclaycard-rewards)
there was an earlier version of this card some years ago that only promised forex free for the first two years or something. I had assumed people were then transferred to the newer version automatically but it may not have been the case.0 -
What about Halifax Clarity and some other cards - Top travel credit cards ?Marchitiello said:

I asked what version (of Barclaycard, as per the title and OP we are only talking about his Barclaycard) he had, as the only one in the lineup (we are still talking about Barclaycard here) with free Forex is the Rewards version.
what does Halifax or others have to do with my post? Maybe take a minutes to understand someone post before replying with a completely irrelevant response would help1 -
Yes, I see - in the title.Marchitiello said:

If you've had the card long-term and have often used the fee-free forex facility - and have just been caught out after it only being a small-print entry on your last statement, I'd be putting in a complaint - but in a friendly manner - to say you weren't aware of the change to a long-standing card benefit, and would they consider reimbursing the charges as a one-off now that you are fully aware of the loss of benefit (and that you might consider swapping to their 'Rewards' card in order to continue reaping the benefit).0
