£1 Direct Debits for Bank Accounts

There’s nothing to suggest having multiple Plum accounts will cause conflicts or confuse the direct debit system.adindas said:PRAISETHESUN said:With Plum, you can link multiple current accounts but only one of them can be set as your primary account. This account is the one that a DD is set up on. If you change your primary account then the DD mandate on the previous account gets cancelled and a new one is set up on your new primary account - meaning only one DD at a time.
There doesn't seem to be anything stopping you registering for multiple Plum accounts however with different email address, which you can then link to multiple current accounts to generate multiple DDs. You just need to log in/out of the app each time you need to switch between them.I have not done that so it is also interesting know, whether it is just a matter of Login/Logoff and selecting a different current account to target from where the money will need to be pulled into plum. The potential problem here that I could see is the confusion from the system as cancelling direct debit, it will need to be set up again. Both parties Plum and The Banks might get annoyed.1 -
So, I've opened a Plumb account on my iPad and linked it with my Barclays account, set up £1, I think that's once a week, bit more often than I'd like, but I can transfer back. I opened a second Pocket thinking that I could have a second bank for the other pocket, but that doesn't seem to be the case, it looks like it's tied to Barclays, is that correct? I don't really want to open a different one on a different device, I might look at monzo as I ned a few DD's, I had 4 post office on line savers, so I need to replace those.
I recently bought a new Epson Printer and went for the Epsom ReadyPrint subscription, 10 pages a month, I think it's 99p, so that's another DD out of the way1 -

Nice tip for the Epson printer, I have one too.
Retired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."0 -
I set up a regular amazon gift card top-up of £1 on a credit card that I hadn't used since its promotion ended and used that to set up a direct debit for payment in full.

That's good way around, but are you sure your CC provider collect the £1 payment every month? Some providers only collect when a certain minimum credit is reached.Jami74 said:I set up a regular amazon gift card top-up of £1 on a credit card that I hadn't used since its promotion ended and used that to set up a direct debit for payment in full.0 -
Some (RBS, NatWest) don't just not collect low amounts, they actually credit the £1 back to you!qsk said:

As I mentioned previously, you can only link 1 bank account to your Plum account as your "primary" account - in this case Barclays. Secondary pockets can't be set up as additional DDs. You can have multiple Plum accounts on the same device, as it's tied to an email address, not your device. You just need to log in/out of the app each time you want to switch between them.

I am not sure on the exact conditions, but sometimes, yes.phillw said:
Wait, what? If you spend £1 on an RBS or NatWest card, they just write it off?k_man said:

Was quite confused when it first happened.
It even appears asSMALL BALANCE WRITE OFFin the transaction list.
How often they will do this, rather than just close the account is a different matter.

Ah that's interesting. They've taken it this month but if it appears to be a problem I could always up it to £2.qsk said:
