Norton Security renewal

Norton seem finally to have come to their senses on their renewal policy, at least up to a point. I cancelled the auto-renewal and received an email saying I can renew 10 device licence for £44 for 2 years. In the past the figure has been far higher than that. The only 'catch' to watch out for is that if you do allow auto-renewal it is still close to £100.

Why waste money - Windows Defender (which comes free) does the exact same job and far less intrusive.

Otherwise that doesn't work out to £4.40 per device. As above, Windows Defender (built into Windows) is free. Does the same job.https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/broadband-and-tv/free-anti-virus-software/ might be of interest.

4 laptops 2 tablets and 2 phones so not far off. As the price is for 2 years it's just over £2 per unit per year.

Seriously, listen to the posts above, use the built-in Windows AV and save the £44 and put the heating on for a day instead.

Thanks for the info everybody. I remember back to the days when Microsoft's own anti-virus was generally accepted as being total rubbish. A few quid a year has been worth paying out for peace of mind up to now. I can rethink that for the future.

If you really want to use Norton then Computer Active magazine have a promotion for Norton 360 for 2 years covering 10 devices for £19.99.

Bit late for me, but thanks anyway. In the past I've always just looked on t'interweb for prices rather than paying the stupid price wanted by Norton. It's then just been a case of entering the new code and carrying on. Last year that didn't work and I had to remove and re-install Norton on each device which was a total pain. That's part of the reason I was happy with the offer price from Norton.
