That said quick extrapolation from cooking the beans suggests our 800w microwave would come out at 7p 

It neither a good nor bad statement but will convince some to try the unused microwave more in these times.

We must balance this with what MSE/Martin has done for millions of people in the UK, IE help them to keep in check as far as possible and hold accountable those that are trying to profiteering from the ordinary citizen.
