Oh no, @Asparklierblonde. I feel for you. A couple of years back, our neighbours were away for a week. His sister was staying to watch the animals. She rang us, one of the rams had collapsed in a field and she needed to move him into a barn. We went over with quad bike and flat trailer. Loaded the ram onto the trailer, but OH was worried he might try to jump off. Hence i was sitting on the trailer, with ram. Being bumped across several fields, holding him, as he peed all down my legs! The joys of country living!
@mama67, glad all is good. This DNA styff if fascinating. DD1 did a test a few months ago. It came back that I am apparently one eighth Norwegian. No idea how. So when we have a little spare money next year I'm going to take one, try to determine which side of my family it is, very confusing.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx
PS. @Asparklierblonde, i'll probably be digging up raspberries next week. Will send you some then. If anyone else wants any raspberry canes, just shout.Frugal Living Challenge 2025.9 -
I’ve been lurking around and sometimes contributing on here for about 10 years. I needed to start being frugal as soon as I came on the forum's and would come to this thread for ideas most days. I was amazed anyone could manage on £4000 a year and I failed miserably most years to get anywhere near but it did encourage me to really cut back, get my budgets sorted and as I was coming up to retirement with only a state pension to get as money savvy as I could. And on the whole I have managed it with all the help and tips on here, my budgets are set and I do try to save something each month for household repairs etc and when I did retire dd managed to take on an allotment at the right time (we didn’t have to wait long) so fruit and veggie growing started and my inner Felicity Kendal came to the fore🤣🤣 and as she works full time it’s nearly all down to me!! so thank you ‘Frugaldom’ for all the help and all the contributors on here Nannyg£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund15

Thank you Frugaldom,
I've been lurking on your thread for several years and benefitted from your knowledge and that of other posters here. I'll be here for 2024 and occasionally popping in to comment.
I do NaPoWriMo in April each year, with the challenge to write a poem every day. Good luck with the novel.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget7 -
Instead of writing a novel, maybe you should write a book on saving money and becoming frugal. I have found that writing non-fiction is easier than writing fiction. Might get done faster. PS It sells better too.15

I'll be back next year too. This is one of the first groups I joined after MSE started up and I worked out how to join a group. I am on my 3rd signature as I got myself lost by not saving my passwords
(Not tech savvy then not much better now
)
At the time we were living on CC's and only 1 wage for many years - fortunately not paying interest charges thanks to MSE guidance.
It has taken us far too long to get our shizzle sorted but we are here and doing even better with less too thanks to advise and information picked up in here. Long may it continue.

I will be back too. Didn't manage to save quite as much as I hoped, something to do with £100 a week diesel habit! Still managing to put money away and am enjoying being my frugal self something my ex would not tolerate. Still managing to enjoy a good life. X2023 Frugal Living Challenge

I wonder ho is still here taking part in the challenge and how many will be joining me in 2024, which will mark 17 years of my frugal living challenge on the MSE forums. I'm making mine a little bit different next year as it's an extra special anniversary year on several counts.
2024, for me, marks 25 years of publishing frugal living & money saving challenges and it will be 10 years since setting up the Frugaldom project. If you have followed for any length of time, you'll know that it began as living on £4,000, a year while saving everything else.
I have not been particularly frugal of late. Any time I stray away from living frugal it tends to coincide with straying away from the forum and threads like this so I'll be in regularly. I've thought about starting a savings diary on here as well to keep me focussed but not sure I have the stamina for the regular posting that would require, need to think about this one.7 -
I will be back in 2024. I like the challenge of it all4

Since adding another water butt this year for the garden/toilet flushes summer did not produce too much sunshine and we have had sufficient water this year. I have a total of 1000 litre capacity in 2 large butts. We are still aiming to try and get each half yearly bill to under £100. The COL is putting the target further and further away. DH needed a bath last week to aid an issue of something he had done to his back so we need to try and pull that back. I need to get a timer for the bathroom especially for me as I am guilty of having the water running too long. In summer I can manage a 90 seconds wash straight in with the cold water but no hair washing takes place. Need to get back to 4 mins during the winter or less. Perhaps focus on 3 mins would be a start.
