Chase & cashbsck

Options
I'm on my phone right now so forgive me for a brief post

Contacted chase regards cashback ending date & got given a link where it tells you what third party payments qualify as cashback. Apple pay & Google pay are listed, Samsung pay is not & the link says only those listed pay out.

I get back in touch to query it. They give me a riddle so I name a specific transaction as an example to which they say yes - I paid via samsung pay.

So what's the situation? The website seems to suggest Samsung pay won't qualify yet the messaging service had someone saying it did qualify. Messaging services aren't always right though.

Anyone know more?

    8 days on...

    https://www.chase.co.uk/gb/en/legal/Cashback-FAQs/

Will I receive cashback if I use a third-party wallet?
We only support Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. All other third-party wallets are not supported.

Interesting how their website suggests Samsung Pay doesn't work yet the app-chat guy says it does.

    Can't both be right.

Not sure what exactly you are asking, but if by 'cashback' you mean the 1% for spending on debit card (until end of Feb) then I can confirm Samsung Pay does work as I have used my Chase card linked to Samsung Pay+ (Curve) linked to my Samsung Pay Wallet on my Android phone and I do and always get the cashback.

Even less clear what you are doing though? Are you saying that you are using Curve actually linked to Samsung Pay+? If so that would not be a test case for Samsung Pay+ working for cashback with Chase as it is Curve that is actually linked to the virtual card not Chase

Genuine question .... why (are you not sure)? Did I phrase it badly? Are there other forms of cashback for Chase?

Whether I phrased it badly or not, you nailed it as for what I was talking about so your post is helpful, thank you.

Even moreso as how you described it is exactly how I use mine. Samsung Pay+, Curves & Chase.

So why then does the link I provide, which is direct from their own website, suggest that we wont earn the 1% cashback that way .... yet the guy on the secure messaging service said I will & you confirm that you do?

To again quote them ... we ONLY support Apple pay, Google Pay or PayPal. Keyword: ONLY.

Nowhere does it say "oops we forgot to mention Samsung Pay or Samsung Pay+ or Curve so we'll sort you out there too" .... so how then do we earn the cashback when it suggests we shouldn't?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I came here to check the secure messaging guy was correct in what he said & if he was (which he seems to be) then to check how that even happens.

Especially when if T&Cs do not specifically word-for-word spell it out then these companies & organisations are quick to refer you to their T&Cs as their way of not paying you & MSE'ers are quick to provide URLs & quote T&Cs and say "did you check this, no you did not".
  • It’s a bit misleading really, using Chase via Google/Apple/Samsung Pay won’t stop you earning cashback.

Samsung Pay+ is Curve powered so you can use either Curve or Samsung Pay+.

So Chase -> Samsung Pay+ OR Curve -> Samsung Pay

@B0bbyEwing sorry didn't mean it to sound the way it was, wondered if you were referring to Curve cashback or the Chase cashback or something else ie targetted cashback at certain retailers.

Buy yes, Chase -> Samsung Pay+ .->  Samsung wallet gives you the 1% cashback at Chase :)

Ahh I see where the confusion stemmed from now. No problem.

So long as I'm getting the cashback, that's all that matters :)

I have a few £100 in my round up account now after opening the account towards the start-ish of the year. Not sure whether I should be happy or concerned about that :D lol
