As others have said, a shocking mistake. They need a new tape measure and reorder the correct size. Also to make good on a temporary basis.

I would put in writing to the boss of the firm your rejection of the windows as is.

Ignore scare tactics of timescale, they can put through a rush job with their suppliers.

Bodging the brickwork will look dreadful especially comparing to other houses in your street, it will stick out like a proverbial sore pollex.

Although it would be possible to alter the brickwork at the reveals, it be probably be better to get the correctly sized window.
Who would be paying for the brickwork?

And if you are messing around replacing bricks, it is going to be fun trying to find ones that match. I'll take a stab at the bricks being imperial soft reds - Whilst there are a few suppliers of imperial sized bricks, they are not cheap and you have to be really picky to get a decent match. Also looks like a lime mortar, so getting a colour match there is also going to be a challenge.
A correctly sized window is going to work out to be a lot less hassle in the long run. Anything else is just a bodge.

I would be putting in writing the shocking measurement job they have done and addressing it to the highest person at the company/business.
Do not exchange any money - make sure they measure up correctly and that you are 100% satisfied. They can come out and measure up correctly - if they've put the order in already then the cost of that is on them.

Also, to do the best job, dogleg bricks should be used at the reveal, which cost even more, although they can be made on site.
Having to alter the opening jambs to suit the frame on a brand new window supplied from a firm is really poor. If it was for a cheap secondhand one it would be different.
Having a totally different brick at the reveals can look good if done as a feature, although it wouldn't match the rest of the openings.
  • Its a mess no doubt about it . Is it aluminium and is the cill middle joints welded outside . The way the cill have ended wall side is the worst part of that job and no coming back from that . how long did it take them to make it look that bad . a few notes . I could get into your house in roughly 20 seconds without the pressure gasket in the back . the red packers give that straight away . the side frames are about 40mm short in the width but would have been fixable and made good to a decent standard by someone who is reasonably competent by boxing the wall ends out to cover the mess and trimming up the inside to cover the obvious width shortage . Foam isn't too bad an insulator but its too much to imagine and acceptable . the short cills means they will have to remove them all and start again though . awful job . bad installation and bad measure . I'm asking if its alli because it looks like but I'm looking at my dirty very average Samsung

This means I will have a huge frame inside and the slimline is going to be ruined, right?

Well not really . as far as I can see you have more glass than you had . you've had a heck of a lot of timber removed , the bay angles are a lot norrower than what was . the ends are the short  part that can be plastered the extra 2 inches in or made back with timber or plastic architrave . The head has a trickle vents fitted so needs the room above to allow for that . I'm not protecting a bad job . Just saying its fixable . maybe apart from the cills outside need to go to the brickwork
