The pin is either stuck or not,  so if stuck why is the rad getting warm.
    Hi
Are you plumber, please? I ask because of your user name, thanks

As per my earlier post, and to reiterate , our newish CH a rad was cool lower down read up the net etc, took rad off put back on still cool at the bottom 1/3. Then as per my previous post, a friend did the pin for us and it heated up like never before and did so until we sold the house.

    Thanks

    I'm reading with interest.
I have the same problem but the system has had a power flush last winter and they were balanced. New trv's.

All ran wonderfully and quietly for a while then this winter it's back to square one.

Just wondering if the radiator gets hot then the trv switches it off as temperature is reached. Then it cools from the bottom up as the remaining heat rises to convect from the top?
So simply the nature of heat rising.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

    Hi

Yes, TVR,s turn off heating to the rad/s  via the temp control on the TVR - They are not 100% but do the business.
In our combis ever since I can recall we have a temp setting for hot water and CH heat - there are standards for these and in the winter we turn the cH and water temp up a bit. However, as you thought, the TVR will turn on/off rad as long as heating is on and turns it down when temps reach.

The central thermostat we just have it on full blast as all heating is controlled via TVR's.

TBH, not sure if it cools from the top or the bottom when it turns down but they do get  lot cooler as is the job of the tVR to turn them down and up to the heat setting.
