I asked Bulb Energy to carry out an Independent Determination test of my meter since Bulb accepted that it was over recording. This test means the meter woukd be removed and taken to an approved laboratory for further testing to assess more accurate percentage as to amount it was under or over recording. Bulb have stated to myself and Ombudsman that this test is only for gas meters, that they have never heard of this test, that I am the first customer to ever ask them to carry out this test, that they can’t do it as do not have “a process in place to arrange this kind of work”
Have you ever had this type of test carried out on your electricity meter and has anyone asked for Bulb to carry out this test????????

Yes, it is normal practice to send a gas meter to SGS for independent testing but my understanding is that electricity meters are tested in situ. The supplier fits a check meter alongside the existing meter.

 I believe that Bulb is 100% correct in its interpretation of the rules relating to meter testing.
