New Smart Meter are dangerous - Budget Exceeded

But then again you can sometimes get eight pages of off topic drivel especially when it comes to the subject of smart meters.EssexHebridean said:
In fairness, once there are 8 pages of replies, if you’re not going to read through to check, it might be best to assume that the original question will have been answered! 😆Chrysalis said:
I answered the OP, not reading 8 pages of replies.Officer_Dibble said:Did you miss the intervening 8 pages Chrysalis?3 -
Me too. I’d reset it to what I thought was a reasonable average spend. However as soon as my husband noticed the ‘budget exceeded’ messages, I whacked it up to what I hope🤞🏻is a figure that won’t be exceeded. It saves a lot of frowns, questions & sighs (he doesn’t feel the cold, other 2 occupants do!).Sea_Shell said:Chrysalis said:You talking about the IHD not the smart meter, you can set the budget to whatever you want.
I've just whacked my "budget" on the IHD up to a silly amount just to stop it flashing red at me all winter. I did have it set to an accurate average, which is obviously far too low at this time of year.
I know the tariff information is correct, and so the daily costs are correct, as is the usage.Account with Octopus is well in credit, I’m doing what I can to improve efficiency & we can affords not to be cold.1 -
Utterly pointless. Got our smart meter (along with infantile welcome messages about how things were going to get smart around here) with a preset budget of £1.61!
In a house with 4 adults in it, coming and going at all times and 3 of us wfh, that budget lasted until lunchtime.
It's hopeless to set it to anything realistic (about £10 a day, if our account statements are anything to go by) as you have to click the up arrow for each penny you want to add. Why can't you hold it down like every other gizmo I've ever used, to get to 10.00 before my patience runs out or I get rsi in my fingers!0 -
