TA - hope that the cold weather doesn't spoil your afternoon.Scarlet -
perhaps the pearl women has hidden depths.
Coxy - I bought my favourite gin online as nowhere here stocks it - Makar - it's a Glasgow gin and very nice too!DP1 - I forgot about the snowman melting, poor wee one. It'll be a bigger shock to the children in QLD as they don't have snow. I remember when their two uncles were in the UK in the '90s (one 11 months and the other three years old) just standing outside in the snow with amazement on their faces. Such lovely memories.Bella - sorry that your cold is still lingering around, it must be rotten for you.Nelski - are your bruises still aching? I'd say 'take care' but I know that you do already.Well, I've prepped the peppers for roasting. Cut up an onion. Cut up potato and carrot and got them in water. Used up the last of the garlic and am ready to go. I'm just now sure when the electrician is coming, he'll want to cut off the power at some point to do the testing so I'll wait a wee while yet. During the veg prepping I cut my index finger on my left hand, not badly but annoyingly as I'm mostly left-handed. I wrapped it in a piece of kitchen towel and put on a medical glove to carry on with the veg as I learnt very quickly that red pepper juice stings like a stingy thing on a cut!I've got the front door open to get some of the frosty air inside, just for a wee while, and also put the radiator on in the utility room for another wee while, I've set it to 'frost' which is 8c and it's good and hot now. I'll turn it off shortly and light the woodburner which I laid this morning. So...not quite as idle as I was yesterday or wanted to be today.10 -
Hi everyone,
I started a post yesterday but Esben announced that he would help me and the last time he did that I lost my cursor so I just shut the laptop and abandoned the post. Yesterday was busy because it wasn't a nursery day, Brian hasn't stopped working since Esther was born because he doesn't get paid if he doesn't work, he's trying to clear things to have Christmas off. Anyway it's nursery today so I plan to sew the binding on the quilt I'm trying to finish for Nate, then I have 2 stockings for the babies to make. I also want to write the cards and get them posted.
I made a Madhur Jaffrey recipe for dinner, a bean and mushroom dish which was lovely. Brian did brisket on Sunday so there is a lot left over for a meal tonight.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning all, another who woke early with a million things in my head, then fell back to sleep after an hour of wittering. I did write my cards yesterday, now I have to write 2 letters to go into the ones to my old friends and then they're all ready for posting. As for presents I'm struggling with what to get this year, however the DGC are done and they're the main ones. I've still got some xmas food to buy, I have my turkey in the freezer but I keep thinking it's ages till the 25th, er...no it's not.
Today we're going to get the decorations from upstairs and have a look through them. I'm sure we didn't need to buy 3 extra strings of lights for the tree, poor thing will be groaning under the weight! I'd like to sort out the small freezer ready for some party food too, I'm sure I can get one free drawer.
Right another coffee calls
Take care all, stay safe and warm

Soup has been made and portioned up. Despite the faff last time it did taste much better with fresh chicken stock, this time I used a pouch one which is better than using a crumbly cube. The peppers are roasted too. My cut finger is fine.Electrician has been, woodburner lit.Now there's a great big huge Chinook hovering and circling around the land with an occasional jet whizzing past like lightening, I suspect it's a training exercise, at least I hope it is! As I was watching the helicopter the pilot brought it right over my house so low that it only skimmed the telephone wire. Funny times.7
