Morning! Well I don't think I'll be sleeping any time soon, no idea why, except maybe head going a million miles an hour about stuff to do and stuff I have to do. Got the Christmas tree yesterday and it's lovely piney smell is permeating the house like a Harrods version of posh toilet cleaner..I had some really long cinnamon sticks so I've broken them up to add to the smell and I may even dehydrate a few oranges or stud some with cloves .Get me going all old school. All my current favourite baubles are at the top so I can see them. Today I think is wrap presents to get them out of the way and put them upstairs, along with potentially fetch a second hand sideboard type thing for the passageway. I will take a pair of curtains down too, there's stuff in the car for the cs [they were shut early when I drove past], they can be added, they'll do someone a turn, and they're thick ish but not as thick as velvet, I have some ready to replace them but that does involve moving the curtain rail, a job I'm not sure I have time for this week.
Rosy, glad the christening went well, boo to the cold! Good job you did your tree beforehand! Gers, well done on recycling everything
how weird they've never heard of the Snowman, but then, I suppose it isn't really, the weather there...same re cheese. I've hidden some Christmas from me already. Nanny, glad the concert was great, I do love the feeling of community it gives you and shared joy. Shame about Teddy though..Nels, hope you're de-bruising apace..TA, I laughed at the speedy laptop...Take care all, snuggle under them blankets, it's a brr one....And in the spirit of wrapping presents, that's the song for today....

"Bah, humbug" no, that's too strong
'Cause it is my favorite holiday
But all this year's been a busy blur
Don't think I have the energy
To add to my already mad rush
Just cause it's 'tis the season
The perfect gift for me would be
Completions and connections left from
Last year, ski shop
Encounter, most interesting
Had his number but never the time
Most of '81 passed along those lines
So deck those halls, trim those trees
Raise up cups of Christmas cheer
I just need to catch my breath
Christmas by myself this year
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas
But I think, I'll miss this one this year
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas
But I think, I'll miss this one this year

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Very dark chilly start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy..
Dinner last night was fish, jacket potato, cheese and beans, I had veg. Tonight will be LO's pork.

Morning All
Thanks for the start taff, I too had a night of thinking about what I have to do!
Very cold and frosty this morning, will probably have to scrape the car today, haven't looked at it yet.
Busy day again at work, continued painting the skirting board in the new room but with a proper paint brust this time so it was a bit easier. One more coat should do it then I can sort the walls, although that may not be until after Christmas.
My cold has returned, thought i was getting over it but started again yesterday with a runny nose, just in the middle of doing another covid test just in case.
Loved your book club description Scarlett!
Hope you're feeling better again Nelski, take it easy.
Decided the hot water bottle I made on Sunday wasn't really good enough so have started another, hopefully this one will look better and I get it finished before the secret santa date.
Have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks, my goodness it's chilly. Thanks for the song Taff.Yesterday was day of quiet. I planned to go out and didn't. I planned to make soup and didn't. I planned to do a quick woollen wash and didn't. You get the picture I'm sure. 🦥
Today I have an electrician coming, no idea when, so will be getting up shortly. I'll probably light the woodburner as I don't want to inflict the coldness on another human being. I'll make the lentil soup otherwise there'll be nothing for lunch the rest of the week without breaking into the freezer. That wouldn't be such a bad thing actually but it won't be this week. 😀
I hope that everyone is keeping warm and safe. Happy St. Nicholas Tuesday. I have some goodies to eat.12 -
Morning folks and thanks TAFF for the early start. I think this midnight ruminating is catching, along with CAMELOT I have been as bad! It's blooming annoying.
Brr it feels colder than ever this morning, it seems the forecasters have got it right. We are in the northern high ground catchment area for snow tomorrow but my fingers are crossed it will miss us.
Tuesday again so it must be coffee 'n lunch day with BFF again. We are hoping we can hog a table by the fire this morning, although the thermals will be on. I might look like Bessie Bunter with all the layers but I don't care. Another friend might be joining us today although she won't be with us until lunch ordering time.
The cards finally got finished yesterday so the addressed ones will get posted as I pass the box. A friend's son who is a postman says there is such a backlog of mail piled up 'cos of the strikes he can't imagine it getting delivered by Christmas! Hope he is wrong!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, fed up or MIA. Onwards and upwards NELS. Take care all, keep warm xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all and thanks for the very early start @-taff - you will need a nap later!
We did well with our Christmas shopping yesterday and apart from some alcohol gifts that I can get in Ts, we are almost there. No wrapping done yet but will make a start this week as the tree is going up on Saturday. I had a missed call from M&S despite having my phone in my pocket not my bag.... they say the description is an 'error' but would I consider the love seat (wide armchair) as a swap. It just about fits the gap, so I rang back but couldn't get through. Will wait for another call today. Why they didn't suggest this in October I have no idea...
DH is in Solihull today so left mega-early. I am WFH. There's lo chilli con carne for lunch mmmm. Will make a chicken dish for dinner with some mini potatoes and veg.
Have a nice lunch out @TravellingAbuela and wrap up!
Soup making going on here too @Gers - BNS out on the side already.
Get well soon @camelot1001 and well done on your painting.
Have a good day everyone,

Morning all
Brrrr very cold here this morning and getting colder as the week goes on, there is a small posibility that we might have some snowim keeping everything crossed that it happens.
Three people coming today all lovely, one of them mentioned going bowling or there is a display of nativity scenes and cribs in a local church which sounds lovely so I will see what they fancy.
Pork chops for dinner tonight might do some chips and peas with it, will chip the potatoes this morning to save a job later, dw has been emptied and I will have a quick tidy round.
Nels I hope you are less sore as the days go on xx
Have good days all xx

Good morning, thanks Taff you're up and on the go early this morning! Thanks for the Christmas cheer - I too miss Tru and Scampi, but you are doing a good job of brightening us up.I woke very early as usual and was thinking of getting up, when all of a sudden I fell asleep again and didn't get up till a short while ago. It's wet here, everything is dripping.Yesterday was an ok day. Camelot, there wasn't as much pearl clutching as I thought, at the Book Club, the lady who I thought would be the chief pearl clutcher said she hadn't been keen on the content of the book but enjoyed it nevertheless! I shouldn't be so quick to make remarks about people should I!I wrapped presents again last night, so I'm up to date. Not much to do now, despite my very late start on Christmas. We'll put the tree up at the weekend when Dgs is staying, it'll occupy him for a while I hope.Nels, hope you're feeling a bit better.Thoughts to anyone who is not well, Poppy, and anyone else.Take care folks.11

Morning everyone you will need a nap later Taff I am putting my tree up on Saturday off to work soon I will be back for my soup about 12 then straight to WW after that I’m pleased I go straight from work because it has to be really cold tonight and I would take some getting back out if I came home . All my presents are wrapped I still need a Turkey normally get a crown I have a gap to squeeze it in might get it at the weekend I am determined this year Xmas eating is going to be the day and Boxing Day not still going into the new year not that I will be doing much at new year we have two dogs staying with us so New Years eve I will have 3 dogs to look after with my own who are all frightened of fireworks it’s going to be fun because the hubby will be snoring and I will be singing my head off to a loud television trying to distract them I hope it pours down and there isn’t two many anyway that’s a worry for another day . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Morning
Still sore but definitely improving thanks.
Few volunteer calls in the diary this morning then off for a covid jab this afternoon. Hoping it doesn't give me side effects but do need to have it with all the visits to mums home.
Saw all the new strike dates for trains this morning. That is really going to mess up a lot of peoples plans to visit family over the holidays. Wonder if the sympathy they used to get lots of will be fading now. There will be lots of knock on effects on small business.
Going for easy food atm so tonight will be fish finger tartare sauce butty and chips.
Well done on getting a result with M+S coxy pays to stand your ground
TA enjoy your lunch
Enjoy your day out Ruby
Take care everyone x

Morning everyone
Gers I introduced little one to The Snowman at the weekend - she sat still for half an hour which is unusual - but her eyes filled up at the end and she announced 'I'm not watching that again granny - the little boys snowman died!'
Then I remembered that both DDs had much the same reaction twenty years ago.
She stayed over on Saturday night so we did lots of Christmas colouring, played games and made artificial snow - she played with it for ages so it was worth the mess on the kitchen floor!
Not so fun was being poked awake on Sunday morning at 5.45 - 'Granny it's morning I need to open my advent calendar!'
DD has taken her to Butlins for a few days so I've got presents all over her bed and plan to start wrapping today, though I have no labels so will have to stick post it notes on till I go into town tomorrow. Haven't written any cards yet so will have to get them done too and post the few I need to tomorrow.
I'm at work at lunchtime today...so I'm going to get on now before I go.
Hope everyone has a good day x
