Company paying cost of living payment

Does anyone know about company paid cost of living payments and whether it will affect universal credit payments?

Just been informed that we all will be receiving a £500 cost of living payment from our company in December my initial thought was im going to put that all on my gas account so we could have the heating on now it's getting colder. but I know when I have earned commission at work it wipes out my universal credit and am now thinking if I get this payment will I then have my universal credit stopped for that month .

Any advice would be great

I think it will be treated as earnings so that will reduce your UC by £275 giving you a net gain of £225.

I'd forgotten the tax (and NI) so the amount received in the payslip will be less than £500 so the UC deduction will be less than I said. However out of the £500 perhaps OP will end up only £150 or so better off.
