Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Brrrr, chilly this morning but dry for now. Managed to get the bedding out on the line yesterday for a blow. It was half dry so it went on the airer by the fire for a while and is now folded and put away.
Hope you're ok Nelski.
What talented Grandchildren you have Izzy, well done to them. There was a SA brass band playing when I went shopping on Saturday and I thought of you!
I had a catch up day yesterday, lots of little jobs that needed doing (and got done) and some much needed food shopping that was quite expensive but I did get lots of cheese for Christmas as it looks like the Dutch contingent are coming over at some time and they eat a lot of cheese, especially Stilton and very strong cheddar. Anyone else noticed a shortage of crackers? Not the boxes but the boxes of a single type?
I've made a pot of soup, Thai carrot, that I can have for lunches this week to keep warm - our building is freezing and the front door is always open at break times so I need to heat up.
Hope everyone is well, take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Just enjoying a couple of coffees in peace before the 2 girls get up. Sausage sandwiches have been ordered for breakfast so they will go in the air fryer shortly.
Well I was a busy bee yesterday and got off to an early start. All the presents bought so far got bagged or wrapped. Not very MSE using bags but it makes the job so much easier and quicker. Then the cards that are for hand delivery got written, so just the ones to address left to do today. It's touch and go whether I will have enough cards and I thought I had bought plenty. I usually get far too many and have some left for the following year. Not so this time.
I don't bother with lots of decs these days but what I do put up I will drag out and maybe put up next weekend. It might make me feel a bit more festive.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, fed up and MIA. NELS I hope you are improving day by day. IZZY well done to your DGD she sounds a star.. Take care all, keep warm and safe xx

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Don't know what the weather is doing, yesterday was cold and wet brrr.Nels I do hope you are feeling better, it'll be a slow process probably. Hope you've got plenty of painkillers.Taff you and Izzy will meet yourselves coming back one day, hope the hangover abated, and Izzy you must be so proud of your gd's.Izzy, I see that the forecast is not good for the coming week , hope you'll be ok up there in the Dales. My Dd and her partner have a cottage up there, and we are supposed to be going for Christmas. Though that's 3 weeks away, we'll hope for the best.TA, hope you enjoyed your time with your Dgd's yesterday.Snoozer, you must have felt so embarrassed being challenged at the till in M&S like that, it's unforgivable.Yesterday I did some more wrapping and tidied up the rolls of paper and gift tags, they were in a bit of a mess. I haven't done any cards yet though. This morning it's the Book Club, and our book had a lot of sexual content (hope I'm allowed to say that), and I think certain of our members might be clutching their pearls during the discussion.Apart from that it's same old same old - hope everyone has as good a day as they can.Stay safe and warm folks.14

Morning all. Not peeped out yet so not sure what it’s like. Need to get a few bits at our local out of town shopping centre. It will be manic over the lead up to Christmas, so best done early.

Morning all and thanks for the thread nmlc x
Had a nice pub lunch with BFF and her DH yesterday. Back on the wagon today. DH and I are on leave and will visit nephew's grave then go Christmas shopping.
M&S came back with a less than friendly email saying I need to either cancel my order or pay the difference. So, thanks to @-taff I quoted the 'must be as described' part of the consumer rights act as the website STILL says the chair has a "feather scatter back cushion for sinking into" and it doesn't - it's a fixed cushion made of hard foam. Let's see what they come back with. Thank you @-taff xx
Dinner tonight is SW prawn and chilli spaghetti.
You made me chuckle about your book club content @ScarletRibbons !!
Have a good day everyone and hugs to the poorlies

Morning all
Overcast here and chilly but no rain due, OH managed to cut the grass yesterday which looks a lot better, he also hung the outside Christmas lights which look very festive, they are on a timer so only on for a few hours but they do bring a bit of Christmas cheer.
Two ladies coming today and we will stay at home this morning and do some baking and some arts and crafts, we will maybe get out for a walk on the sea front and stop for a hot drink after lunch.
Roast chicken tonight left over from yesterday so just need to re-heat it, I dont re-heat the chicken just the roasties and veg, the chicken will be sliced and have gravy on to warm it enough to eat, so a nice easy meal tonight.
DW has been emptied and I have put a wash on, have tidied through and I will hoover before my guests come.
Nels hope you are ok and not so sore xxx
Scarlet you make me chuckle re the members clutching their pearls
Have good days all xxx10 -

Morning all, a later one from me. Apart from a comfort break at 3am I slept right through to almost 8am. Winter hibernation mode is coming. 😀
Yesterday morning I pottered around upstairs putting away things, deciding I didn't want to keep some things and getting a bag for the CS. Now the hall window ledge is clear of extra stuff, it's very deep so it's easy to leave things on it.The chap up the hill called round with a lovely piece of venison loin fillet which I promptly put in the freezer, it'll be my festive feed. As for lunch yesterday I thought I'd try some kale for a change. I got seduced into it by all the hype about its goodness and health benefits so steamed it and was looking forward to eating it. First mouthful only got a couple of chews, the bitterness was simply horrible, I had to spit it out. 😞 Of course, I tried again but no, that stuff wasn't going near my mouth ever again. It all went to feed the birds. I'll stick to sprouts!
Last night I lit two of the candles on the advent wreath. Tomorrow is St. Nicholas day, it's when children (🙋♀️) in Germany wake to find a few festive biscuits or chocolate from St. Nicholas part of the build up to Christmas. I'll leave something for myself!
Today is banking spreadsheet day. In the olden days it was balancing against the cheque book, now the task has changed so much. Anyway, I enjoy doing it.Coxy - I wish you luck in your M&S campaign.Scarlet - 😂😂
For now I wish everyone well. Happy Monday to all.11 -
Morning all Brrr chilly here and forecast the dreaded white stuff on Sunday . Went xmas shopping got a few bits but still more to get the shopping centre seemed busy with people spending . Today is tidy up day as i let it go at the weekend so the WM is on at the moment.
Coxy Good luck with M&S not really acceptable or customer friendly
Izzy What talented GD's i could never even master the recorder at infant school
Scarlet Although they will be clutching their pearls in public i bet they read the book cover to cover :
Right have a good day everyone stay safe warm and dry xxSlava Ukraini10 -
Morning all. Another late to bed, late to get up for me...Tip run went ok, I actualy had a bloke gove me ahand who worked there, which is practically unheard of these days, and a bit of banter with him...Didn't go out for food, I went to the sm and was seduced by the aroma od garlic ready cooked chicken thighs, four of them, ate two like a wild beast, all snuffle and snorting and chomping in less than a minute, gave two to OH. Then I made pork steaks and mushroom risotto for supper, which obviously means I have risotto left over for my todays dinner...More downstairs tidy today. I did look for another armchair in all the cheap places last night, nothing I liked. Need to get a tree today or tomorrow as well, we'll see how the tidying goes first. And there's another drop off for the CS to do.Scarlet, I laughed at the pearls too...Let's hope they never find out what use they could be put to or what they mean....[probably not allowed to say that...] Coxy, no need to thank me, thank Martin Lewis
Hope they are impressed with your tenacity and capitulate soon...Gers, shame about the kale, but old stuff is bitter, whereas yougner stuff tastes a bit more irony and of course, there are different varieities. Sutherland kale is nice but you won't get it in the shops, you get all the bitter stuff there...Bella, you an me both but mine was the violin. I would watch where everyone else was at with the bow in the orchestra and just move mine up and down the same...Nels, hope you're less bruised today...Is there an argument for putting a slug of sherry in the soup? Medicinal like? Take care all, stay wrapped and cosy, and if you're not feeling very cosy....
