Car Radio not working
Have a basic JVC AM/FM radio and the other day it started sounding distorted like it wasn't tuned in properly even though it was a preset and this hadn't happened before. Now it's just gone silent completely and can't get any station. How do I know what the problem is eg is it the radio itself or the aerial? Are there some basic idiot proof checks tomake I assume it might be cheaper to get a new one installed at somewhere like Halfords rather than pay someone to investigate the problem with the one i've got?

Hi
Most likley the radio - get a new one and see if it works and if it don't just return it.
Fitting is simple. If the new one don't work then as you know its the aerial.
Radios can be bought for about 18 quid not sure re Halfords starting prices or Argos

Are you suggesting the OP acts fraudulently or at the very least immorally?diystarter7 said:Hi

What diystarter7 suggested may well not be fraudulent or illegal in the slightest.Flight3287462 said:

If the OP was to buy a radio online and tried it in their car, I can't see any reason why the right of cancellation and return under the Consumer Contracts Regulations wouldn't apply.
These regulations generally allow a return provided that the consumer hasn't gone:
"beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods if, in particular, it goes beyond the sort of handling that might reasonably be allowed in a shop"
and there are a great many shops that sell car audio products that have units on display so that potential customers can try them out.
After all, without trying the radio, how can the OP possibly establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of it?0
