Anyone with any experience of banking with them? Especially those who have recently opened up a fixed rate ISA with them! Not heard much about them before but have opened up a fixed rate ISA. Slightly nervous as they don't allow test payments for depositing cash so you have to pay one lump sum all in one go. Plus you have to send off all your forms via post with all your financial details - is this standard practise?

I've had no problems with them, although, as you say, they rely on snail mail.

Over many years, they have been 100% reliable for me.

Yes I found them pretty good but when I decided this year to close my last account as the rates were poor, that was indeed a faff. No online closures, wrote a letter, wouldn't do it without certified ID, in the end I waited until I went near Preston and did it there and then.

Furness BS have been OK. Friendly Lot. Opened their new RS5 by postal application. It was slow but that might have partly been the Royal mail strike.

Posted letter to them enclosing passbook last Monday asking to close account giving bank details, closing balance was in my bank account on Friday ......

Thanks everyone for the reassurance! Will be going ahead with my application especially as they seem to have pulled my ISA since I opened my account!
