Help with sums please
Can someone help me with my sums please?
I using the Bright app to get 30 minute readings and plotting them a spreadsheet to try and work out costs. Does this look about right? Yes, I'm on E7 and have strange day/night times. Do I need to divide the cost by 2 because the kWh measured is only over 30 minutes? The Bright app has different E7 times than what I actually get so their cost per slot is different, hence doing a spreadsheet.

No - don't do that.Jami74 said:Do I need to divide the cost by 2 because the kWh measured is only over 30 minutes?
You're already doing it right.2 -
if you are doing this to estemate bills dont forget to add vat and standing charge (you could add the vat to the 30m increments if you wanted to)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

e.g. 2.54 means 2.54kWh used in total in this particular time slot.

Bright App does a perfectly good job of calculating costs without the need for a spreadsheet PROVIDED the correct information has been set in the ESME and GSME.2

I just signed up for Bright (finally) and my gas meter is suddenly showing although without any tariff - this unfortunately doesn't mean free gas, it just means that someone hasn't set it right from the supplier's side.[Deleted User] said:Bright App does a perfectly good job of calculating costs without the need for a spreadsheet PROVIDED the correct information has been set in the ESME and GSME.1 -
I have this problem too, due to a recent issue with my supply. After speaking to someone in support at Bright, they have said that it's a common problem so they are introducing the ability to input your own tariff details on the app and their Displays soon. Hopefully within weeks but that isn't set in stone, and the display will probably be a later update than the app.[Deleted User] said:

Thanks. I've added the standing charge and the total (yesterdays figures) match my IHD for yesterday. Is VAT added on after this point? And do I pay VAT on the unit price and the standing charge? I had always hoped that the amount the IHD showed would be the amount I pay. I can easily add 5% otherwise.ariarnia said:if you are doing this to estemate bills dont forget to add vat and standing charge (you could add the vat to the 30m increments if you wanted to)
For some reason Bright shows my off peak times as 00:30 to 07:30 but they are actually 10:30 to 00:30 and 02:30 to 07:30 as shown on my bill and reflected in kWh used (storage heater) so the £s shown on Bright are different. I can't see how to change the times on Bright.Dolor said:Bright App does a perfectly good job of calculating costs without the need for a spreadsheet PROVIDED the correct information has been set in the ESME and GSME.
My day rate is going up again on 1st January to 54.97/kWh so I am exploring ways of getting more of our day usage onto night usage.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

.
maybe not on your sheet but the other slight complication is rebates like the 66 from the gov are after vat but rate reductions like the cap are before vat.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
