How to find a HMO? (renting)

Is there actually an easy way to do this? I managed to find a couple when I was younger but it was a bit of a fluke.
The only way I can think of is to browse every single listing on spareroom.co.uk and check that it states 'no living room'
There doesn't appear to be a way to search for HMOs on either Rightmove, Spare Room or any other website?

Why is "no living room" relevant to whether or not it's an HMO?0

Most HMO landlords I know use this website to advertise:
https://www.spareroom.co.uk/
hope that helps and good luck!0 -
The only one I know advertises in the local EA as 1 bed flat, with the CT listed as well. It's only really if you know the house that you realise that only one of the 4 bedrooms is being offered. And they have both a kitchen/diner and shared living room.
The householder living opposite wasn't even aware until I mentioned it recently. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Go into Rightmove and call up all the rentals in the area you want, don’t use the filters at this stage. You’ll get a list of every single property in that area, if it’s a big town you’ll probably have hundreds or even thousands.
Then click on filter and click on House share in the Must have section and this will show you all the shared properties, should include the HMOs.1 -
Surely price is the give away? For the same location, if a room in an HMO is the same price as a one bedroom flat, something major is wrong with the flat.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You could also use the non tech route of local newsagent window ads, I often see requests for and offers of rooms to let.0
