Does anyone know of / have experience with pet insurance for a puppy that has a condition we know about?  Basically his lower canines are digging into the roof of his mouth so he needs to get them filed down and have crowns fitted.
I know some "lifetime" policies can cover existing conditions but just wondering if anyone had any recommendations / knowledge about them?

It's very unlikely that you will find an insurer to cover any pre existing issues.

Somewhere like Pet Plan may cover in the future say if there have been no recurrances.

I had my cat with them and declared a dental issue (Vet had said she'd need a clean) when I took out the policy.
They excluded all dental and oral conditions.
Nothing happened at the Vet, after 2 years as my cat was sedated for something else I asked them to check her teeth. Fine, no work needed I was told.
I reported this to PP and they removed the exclusion.

Thanks,  I thought it would be tricky but I know there are specialised insurers who offer lifetime plans and will cover existing conditions,  I think this might relate more to congenital or hereditary issues though.

Even with the pre-existing condition cover they ask about the dogs health at the time. I strongly suspect that they will be far less likely to cover for an active condition where you know the treatment is definitely needed, as opposed to other conditions which may or may not flareup in the future.
Have you had a quote for the dental treatment? My adult dog had the same problem and had to have the canines shortened. Although I was insured it was was actually cheaper than I expected it to be. You may find that paying for it yourself will work out cheaper over time than whatever premiums they load on if you are accepted.
