SKY Mobile Phone Contract

I recently added my daughter to the mobile phone contract I have with Sky Mobile. Unfortunately it turned out to be not as easy as I first thought. So when the new iPhone 14 arrived all my daughter needed to do was to swop the sim card phone number for her own existing phone number.
I had been given a sky contact number that my daughter needed to ring to arrange the switch. A PAC code was provided by her existing provider. She contacted SKY and provided the PAC code. Unfortunately Sky have deleted my phone number instead of the new SKY SIM number. I have now lost my phone number.
I have had the phone number for over 30 years and use the number for both personal and business. Devastating to be honest. I have raised the issue with SKY who are currently investigating the issue. In addition to this SKY have advised that I should have been contacted and present to confirm this change as I am the account holder. This did not happen.
The two issues are contravention of the Data Protection Act and the fact that they have now deleted my phone number.
I have been asked by one of their representatives about what I would consider to be reasonable compensation. To be honest I would just be happy with my existing pone number back, but I have been told it has gone for good.
Does anyone have any thoughts and advice on this issue?

I've had the same number for ever and to me it's priceless but someone on here will have a method to put a price on it0
