Old gas meter

As part of my effort to get my gas bill down, I am wondering whether it might be the gas meter. It was already installed when we moved here in 1988 and hasn’t been replaced. We’ve had a new boiler and the electrician has fitted new thermostat on the hot water cylinder and replaced our analogue heating and water control system with a digital one. I’ve not had the heating or hot water on at all and we just put our balanced flue gas fire on for several hours each evening. The boiler has been firing up on and off during the day (it’s in our cellar under the living room so I can hear it) which is a puzzle. The heating engineer is coming next week to service the year old boiler, drain the system and fit the 3 way valve the electrician left (I think that’s right?). The gas bill for 1 Nov - 1Dec was 1000 kWh, 34 units (100s of ft3).
Thanks.
Thanks.

What is your ACTUAL annual consumption. Look for an Actual (not Estimated) reading from about 12 months ago; read your meter today then do some simple sumsNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
