Everything outside of Utility bills and few selected other DD, is spent on a number of rewards/cashback credit cards and have done so for over 20 years. I always observe people at supermarket till queue or other similar circumstances that pay with a debit card and I cannot help but to think:  “what a waste, they could have made money from this transaction” 😂
The problem here is making assumptions about other people's financial situations. No-one else has any idea what anyone knows about making money from transactions, or how they handle their finances.

In the past, in supermarket queues, I'd sometimes look at people paying with credit cards and feel sorry for them, thinking that they couldn't afford to use their debit cards. But obviously, I had no idea of their circumstances. Since that time, I've been in terrible debt myself and now I'm out of it, I prefer to pay by credit card which is paid off in full every month. I shop online and nobody else sees how I pay - or the perks I receive as a result.

My best friend still insists on paying by cash wherever she goes. There's just no telling her.

  • Everything on credit card for cashback, and the money to pay off the monthly credit card bill goes into savings account between payday and the day before the bill is due to get half a month's interest on it. Every little helps!
