I’ve got a Samsung A53 5G phone which doesn’t come with a charger but it is capable of fairly fast charging using a Samsung 25W charger that you can buy separately.

I got one of these chargers and have been using it with a decent Anker charging cable since I got the phone a few months ago.

Normally, on charging, you get a message on the phone saying “Super Fast Charging” and an estimated time when it’ll be fully charged, but lately it only says "Super Fast Charging" for a second or two, after that the Super disappears and subsequently it does seem to charge more slowly than it did.

I’m wondering why this would be, I guess it’s either the charger, the lead or the phone and I’m wondering if anyone with experience of this syndrome can offer any ideas?

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062589/ - "Super fast charging is only available on select phones, and you need to use the charger that came with the phone or a 25W or 45W Samsung-approved adapter."

Charger not putting out the full power anymore.  You would need to put the charger under a load to test it
properly.  Parts inside the charger may have got a little warm and degraded over time.

also clean the charging port. Fluff/lint can gather in there & affect charging!

OP here - I've done some research and found that this problem is common with Samsung phones since the last software update so I'll have to hope they cure it with the next update
  • The life expectancy of Lithium Ion is often shortened by fast charging.

I tend to charge my phones on a 1A charger to extend the battery life.
