Hello,
So I’ve applied for a credit card 2 days ago. Said I was eligible on the site so went through and applied.
Got a “some checks couldn’t be done automatically so we’ll have to review your application manually”..
Got a “some checks couldn’t be done automatically so we’ll have to review your application manually”..
It’s been 2 days.
I know that’s not very long, however, I’m just wondering if others have been in similar situations before they were accepted?
From my experience in the past, surely this can’t be a decline as declines are usually instant?
Those of you who have had similar experiences , what was the outcome?

It's common enough - yes it'll be an accept or decline. You've obviously crossed the threshold that it's not an instant decline, but haven't made it to the threshold of automatic acceptance based on the data that they analyse when you make an application. It'll likely need a human to come along and look at the application and decide on a number of factors which way your application will go. And it can take time, some banks longer than others.1

had similar with barclaycard, it was to determine credit limit, it did say they may need to do extra checks during the process
as chris states above, it is not a straight decline plus each company will likely have different application procedures1 -
Yep, it's a not uncommon scenario. For a large majority of credit applications it's all automated, and it's simply a case of "computer says no" or "computer says yes". Occasionally, it's "computer says maybe, please can a real person take a look". I would guess that, realistically, you would expect an answer one way or t'other within about a week.

It one of them "How long is a bit of string" checks. Depends on how many & what the issue is.
Could be electoral roll not matching up, or something on credit check not matching up.Life in the slow lane0 -
