Ordered item to wrong addressed, threatened with legal action

This is just a farce. A company can't 'fine' you for posting a negative review. Truth is a valid defence against libel, so if you were to say that you asked to cancel within 30 minutes bu they refused, that would be a valid defence. Libel is a civil matter, and it costs thousands to sue, so such threats are just absurd.Louise126 said:Understood, I have accepted that I am unlikely to get my money back if parcel is accepted my new residents, through my own error of course, will make sure address is correct in the future.
I just felt the response from the seller's customer service was very extreme (threatening a fine of several thousand pounds if I wrote any negative review and sending a screenshot of all the court battles they have had with their customers over the last 12 months regarding similar issues...)
I still can't understand why they refused to cancel if you requested it within the 30 minute deadline though? No free lunch, and no free laptop

It's been suggested that the OP failed to follow the correct procedure when attemrting to cancel(?).macman said:I still can't understand why they refused to cancel if you requested it within the 30 minute deadline though?

The OP said they "messaged" them within 30 minutes whereas the cancellation policy states to go into your account and hit the cancel button for the order.macman said:

There is no indication if the messaging service is realtime or even manned at the hour the OP sent the message. In practical terms it could have been an out of hours email which wasnt seen to long after the easy cancellation window closed.
Failure to include key points or to take the truth out of context can invalidate such a defence1
