Hi i sold an item on ebay the purchaser has opened a case for non delivery, whilst at the same time sending a message to me saying the po tried to deliver it twice and no one was home, they then took it back to the sorting office for collection, it has now gone missing.
The buyer wants a refund from me, am i liable to refund or is it up to the purchaser to chase it up with her sorting office.
thanks for any replies.

How did you send it?
Generally you have the contract of postage with RM and therefore its for you to chase and, if its lost, claim against RM1 -

Unless it's delivered to the buyer and the buyer actually receives it, you are liable I'm afraid.
You would have to chase with Royal Mail, which may be difficult considering no tracking was used - see if you can open a claim etc.
You would then have to refund the buyer in full, including any P&P paid.1 -
Second class with RM has 'compensation' of up to £20 if item lost. Claim from RM.2
