It also states on their privacy policy that;

We will perform credit and identity checks on you with one or more credit reference agencies (CRAs) in the following circumstances:

• When you apply for an insurance quote with us;
• Prior to renewals on all existing policyholders;
• When you apply for credit from us.

When CRAs receive a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders.

Thank you for this. I am still waiting to hear from Covea about this matter. It is almost impossible to get to the right person to speak about it, and I am continually being passed from person to person. No-one seems to know how to deal with my query!!

With respect, you do seem to be making a bit of a mountain out of a molehill.  You applied for credit, they performed a perfectly legitimate hard search, this search was recorded on your file.

Yes, the date of the search does appear to be a little odd, and you may wish to query that purely out of interest.  But ultimately it was a legitimate search, and in itself will have zero impact of your credit history.

Yes, the score you see on your report will have dropped since your credit circumstances have changed.  But as stated before, this is of no concern whatsoever, since it plays no part at all in any lending decisions.

I have also had a new hard search dated 30 Nov by Covea insurance and I'm also with John Lewis for car insurance. My policy was taken out in July, this is when they did the initial hard search.
I've no idea why they've done a new search after this period of time?

I have been informed that the hard search in itself was correct, but they have confirmed there has been an issue in the timing of the hard search being added to the credit report - there has been a delay in doing so.  I don't know why they would of done another hard search on you, if you had one done in July.
