There's being no change in my gas prices but a 0.37p decrease in the electric price, that's really going to help, not!
You just can't please some people. To the notion average 2900kwh user that might be £10.73p if the reduction stays for a year.

Here's the BBC article some are going to be 4p kWh worse off it appears.

I pay by monthly standing order and I'm with OVO.  I challenged the price increase with my supplier who stated that paying by monthly standing order is riskier (for them?) and involves some degree of manual intervention hence why I'm being charged more.  Sounds like a load of petty excuses to me.  Paying by monthly standing order is surely almost as good as a DD, they get my money upfront every month so why am I being unfairly penalised?  Martin Lewis definitely needs to take up the cudgels on this one - those who would like to remain in control of their household finances should not be unfairly punished by greedy energy companies.  We pay our bills on time and in full - punish those who don't!
If you want to pay your bill in full every month and get the Direct Debit discount,  you can ask for Variable Direct Debit (or some call it Whole Amount Direct Debit).

Not 4p. One pence increase at most. Still adds up though.

As far as I remember OVO does not offer variable direct debit, so yes if @OrwellianBabe`wants to pay on receipt of bill it will be more expensive.

Oh I missed that they were with Ovo.  Plenty of other suppliers offer it, if the poster is narked enough about it.

Ah I meant 4p worse off above the notional average of 34p.

    The table here:
"Energy prices rose for some in January – and it was worse for those who prepay or pay on receipt of bills (moneysavingexpert.com)"
(part shown below) is of some use but also adds to the confusion brought about because the media only ever publishing prices by typical use. If like me you are doing as much as you can to be frugal with energy then you are unlikely to be typical. So please please can someone publish a table similar to this but with columns indicating final price per kWh so we can check if it agrees with what our supplier is actually charging. It is often stated that all suppliers are charging the same but having asked a few friends what they are paying I am not so sure. I say final price because my bill gives two numbers one of the start price and the second of the guarantee reduction and you have to take one from the other to get the actual price. This would also enable those paying by DD on receipt of bills to see if their supplier is charging more for this method of payment and resolve that issue for them.
I can start the proposed table by saying I am in the south east and pay on receipt of bills by DD and am being charged 35.31 p/kWh. I just moved from Eco7 to standard. Is that what I should expect to pay?

On another theme be careful if you are on Economy 7, because although the energy companies want you to use energy at night to balance the grid, the government it appears are not on the same page and have changed the guarantee to make such tariffs disproportionately higher cost. You might want to change tariff.
