This looks like a good price at £10 each if you buy 10.

I bought a 5ft LED fluorescent replacement yesterday from Trago. Their price is £9 but I got 20% pensioner discount.

They only had a few in stock.

Aliexpress. We fitted our entire office and factory out with them from a vendor on there, and they are all still going strong 4 years on.

I've used them for other stuff but never thought of them for this! Was there a particular make of tube you bought? And do they work as well as expected?
  • A bit more information which i hope will help.
I have identified one type of fitting as being an Imperia LUX LUXT5249 PC (polycarb) EL and this appears to be a 'high frequency' type as mentioned before? Does this mean it should take an LED tube straight off?

The other two types I don't have ID on, but had taken photos of them:

The tubes in them all do look to be the same T5 49W840

Having done their sums, they do reckon it'll provide a break-even in the first year, and therefore savings from then on. Their thoughts are to self-fit LED tubes to all the units that'll take them, and to replace the whole light assemblies for those that won't.
Could anyone confirm from the photos which fittings are likely to accept LED tubes? I'm hoping the first type will, but what about the others?
    Thank you for your help.
  • TACPOT said I need different LED tubes for the High Frequency fittings? Yet these seem to be the more modern type. How will I identify the LED tubes that will work with HF?
    Thanks.

As a general rule, if the fittings have a plug in starter (therefore magnetic ballast), then the LEDs that come with a replacement "starter" should just be "plug and play".

If there is no starter on the fitting, then these are likely to be HF or electronic ballast.  These fittings will require rewiring internally  to suit LED tubes.

You may do best by getting an electrician to advise.
  • Thanks Mister :-)

Interesting, as it would seem that the older fittings could be better suited to modern LED!
