confused over energy scheme support
Hi,
I am a reasonably intelligent person, but when I look at my fuel bill from Scottish Power it looks as though I have used my own money to credit back to my bank account
I have been unable to attach a snippet of my bill, so this is a summery:
Starting Balance: £584.29
Electricity: £ -111.27
Gas: -£57.92
VAT: -£8.46
credits & debits
Energy Bills Support Scheme £66
Refund of Energy bills support scheme-£66
Closing Balance:£340.64
can anyone please explain it to me
Thank you

Welcome to the forum.
We would really need to see the maths on the bill to know what's going on.
Do you agree with the subtotals of electricity and gas based on usage data, and do the same subtotals appear in both the detailed calculations section and the overall summary?0 -
Have SP refunded the amount back into your bank (the £66?) - by the looks of it this is meant to happen around 5 days after your DD date.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Did you paid £177.65 or £243.65 towards this bill?0

Based on the OP's figures, they paid £0 towards this bill.Jyana said:Did you paid £177.65 or £243.65 towards this bill?0 -
Im not sure of the dates of your transactions but with my British Gas account the figures dont appear to stack up for the handful of days between my dd being taken and the £66 hitting my bank account - then its all OK.
ie - my DD was taken 2 days ago - yesterday my British Gas account showed that an additional £66 payment was added, today it shows that £66 has been deducted from my BG energy account (seemingly the £66 is now missing somewhere - but I know that the £66 will appear in my bank account in a day or two and then everything adds up.
Sounds like this may be similar with you?

I'm with EDF and the bank credit takes 4/5 working days - perhaps the same with you ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I am with Octopus and I am on a fix and a low user. The energy handout of £66 equates exactly to my DD. So Octopus have decided not to debit it. It is going into my credit (I hope) which is now £260 odd0

SP are one of the suppliers who are paying the £66 directly to customers bank accounts.0

This is a con!
Opening = £111.80 in debit
Charges = £132.42
Payments = £200
Closing = £112.22 in debit
I am opening £111.80 in debit and closing £112.22 in debit !!
They are taking the £67 energy support payment off my account then transferring it to my bank separately, i.e. I am paying the £67 to my bank account, not them!!0 -
It isn't. They haven't. You misunderstood.R03ERT said:This is a con!0
