Home insurance for pensioners

Are there any providers that offer better deals on home insurance for  pensioners (single occupant, age 77, receive pension  credit) renewal quote from Post Office is up near 10%?

  • Have you tried SAGA?
  • You could try RIAS. They used to specialise in over 50s, but cover any age now. Saga tends to be quite expensive for me. Get some quotes online and phone your existing insurer. They may match your lowest quote.

What aspects do you think represent special needs for the insurance?  Pensioners vary as much as any other household group does.

Unless you have special needs just do the normal of getting quotes from the aggregators and the few companies that dont play on them. As others have said, those that target pensioners are not necessarily cheapest for them and some are more aimed at the well off pensioners who have multiple holidays/cruises a year than those with simpler needs
