    Lifespan of sealed dg units is about 10 years. ... Which reminds me of this old advert ..

    That is funny, this year for the first time all the windows in our conservatory have mist on the outside in the morning. Our old traditional window cleaner retired about a year ago and now we have one of the pure water pole guys do it.
    So you may be right, is it because of the cleaning method?

    I think the OP is talking about blown units misting inside the two sections rather than mist on the outside.

    Since the old fashioned cleaning involved that clever trickery with a rubber squeegee but the pole guys use softened water so they don't have to do this, maybe a film of moisture being left on the glass that you can see combining with the dew to mist up?

    Thank you everyone for your comments.  Of course the application of water won't be worse than bad weather(!) so I guess that it may be me adding 2+2 and making 5.  ...didn't know that softened water was used though,
       I think I'll watch what is happening more closely and see if the problem persists.
