Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Very dark damp start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy..
Dinner last night was hunters chicken, new pots and veg or rice. Tonight will be LO's of roast.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, I was quite busy especially in the afternoon, but it makes the time pass quicker.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning thanks for starting NMLC.There's a heavy frost this morning, yesterday was a foggy, raw day, so cold and damp. Real November weather.I did everything I'd planned yesterday, and I've got a few jobs lined up for today, just the usual household stuff. We're going out for a pub meal at lunchtime with the husband of one of my recently deceased friends, just a local place, but it'll be ok.Hello Nanny, glad to see you posting, sorry to hear you've been a bit down, it's that time of year I think.Ruby, I don't like wrapping either, it's not a favourite job., Wee Nancy's idea is good.Dp1, they really know how to do Christmas markets in Europe, we've been to Austria and Germany for Christmas markets, they're lovely.Nels sorry to hear you still haven't got your water problems solved, yes, it would be terrible if you couldn't turn it off if it becsme necesssary. There's no quiz tonight because England are playing, so we'll not be going out, and if the weather is anything like it is now I'll be quite pleased not to go out.Hope everyone has a good Tuesday anyway, take care folks.11

Morning all and thanks for the thread nmlc x
Haven't posted for a couple of days - just so busy! Went to a Christmas Fayre with DMum and DSis on Sunday. Got a couple of nice cards plus a framed print for us. Came home and did the A!di weekly shop. Was in the office yesterday and just can't seem to catch a break, so will relish WFH today where I'm not getting disturbed every five minutes!
Good to see @nannywindow posting - I was wondering if you were okay?
@dp1 I'd love to go to a European Christmas market, just never organise myself in time!
Get well soon @snoozer
Dinner tonight is grilled gammon steak, SW chips and baked beans - nice and simple. I am phoning DDad before the match and will crochet whilst it's on (still only just over halfway on the blanket I'm making which is a Christmas gift aaaargh).
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The fog descended on us yesterday afternoon and still with us. And it's brought some raw weather with it. The thermals will need to go on today.
I've been a bit like NAN recently, down in the dumps and cba doing anything. I've missed posting odd days as nothing to say worth saying. I have never been as slack over Christmas and still loads to buy. It's getting me down and I must pull my socks up. I have ordered some stuff online, similar to when we were in lockdown! The 2 youngest DGDs both wanted Oodies for their main present off me and they arrived yesterday. I hope they are worth the money although reviews say they are!
It's Tuesday so it's the usual coffee then lunch day with BFF. We never run out of stuff to chat about and the 4 hours fly by. I hope we manage to get a table by the fire.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, fed up and MIA. Take care and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
Morning folks.Yesterday turned into a dry sunny and cold day. I was only out briefly though that was enough to enjoy the air. I opened the front door for an hour until the cold became a bit much. Then I wrapped myself in my heated throw to make up for it.The postie brought my the selfie stick which I need to take a photograph of my electricity meter. It's far too high up for me to see it and I'm no longer keen on going up on the step and even then it's not high enough. The selfie stick is the perfect solution.Today I've been up to have some breakfast, not my usual routine, and have dived back into bed to warm up. I turned in the electric blanket before I went downstairs. My cleaner is coming later so I'll go out for some shopping when she's here. The best UK Christmas market I went to was in Princes Gardens in Edinburgh which had a great range of authentic German goodies. It hasn't been held for a couple of years and I think there was a problem with the ground in the Gardens (not 100% sure of that!). Certainly the ones to go to are in Germany or Czechia. Maybe next year. 😀
My blanket is cooling, time to get up properly. I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Tuesday to all.10 -
I've just been enjoying a lovely trip down Memory Lane thanks to your talk of Christmas markets. We used to have some lovely ladies trips to the markets in the past (no husbands allowed!) We did a few German ones - Dusseldorf and the much bigger Cologne ones. The last we had was to Krakow. Much smaller but absolutely lovely nevertheless. Sadly they stopped when 2 of our group were diagnosed with C the same year and when they were no longer with us it didn't seem the same planning our trips without them. So sadly that was the end of them. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

Morning everyone
Cold and frosty here this morning - pleased I'm not at work till lunchtime. Just had a workman here painting the bit on the bathroom wall where it was plastered last week and the patches on the kitchen ceiling where the water came through. He said there's another Beast from the East on it's way - hope not!
Gers - yes the Christmas market in Edinburgh is lovely - I'll probably go with DD when she's home for Christmas. Don't know when you were last there, but they now have childrens rides down where the ice rink used to be - I think the ice rink is in St Andrews Square now with more market stalls. My girls used to love going to the ice rink when they were younger. I haven't been since the year before Covid.
TA - sorry to hear you've been feeling a bit down - hope you enjoy your lunch out today x
Well I'm going to move as I have a little ironing to do and the usual jobs before work.
Hope everyone has a good day x8 -
Morning all, I'm another who never seems to get on at weekend. We went to a birthday party on Sat night, fairly near home so DS1 took & picked us up. He doesn't really know the birthday people so didn't go, but DS2 & DGD came as did DB2 + SIL, and they shared a taxi home. We all sat together so that was nice.Sunday was DGS inflatables swimming party, DGD took a friend. I helped with making sure the children were ok getting changed and didn't leave anything behind, as some parents stayed while others went home.1 little girls mum had put her stuff in a locker, then went home but she couldnt reach it herself when she was getting changed! Then I entertained DGS little half sister when their Mum went to set up the food.( Dp1- we're another family whose GC relationships are a bit complicated, DS2 had 2 previous relationships, resulting in DGD first, then later DGS. Both Mums went on to have other children with new partners/husbands ...) All luckily is amicable, though we see a lot more of DGS Mum & Stepdad. The football boys parents clubbed together and bought him an England kit, which seems a good idea as it cost a lot less than all the individual presents they seem to get these days, especially so near Cmas. I made a quick curry for tea once we got home.Coxy good luck with the blanket being finished- I've been making a granny square blanket with all the odds and ends of wool I have, and only manage a square a night watching TV.Sorry some of you have been down in the dumps, it's been so gloomy, and the pressure of getting things ready for the festive season doesn't help. Hope you feel brighter soon x.I wrapped all I've got so far for the DGC then I could see how much each of them has. Need some more wrapping paper though.I've got some pork fillet out to make Delias pork stroganoff later. Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)8

Morning...Brrr! I caught a cld from somewhere so I've been stuffing tablets down my neck. I'm going to Ikea today with OHs mum and friend. I'm looking for a unit to put my computer, printer and tv on. Currently, the computer and tv are on a small slatted bench, the printer doesn't fit on it so it's variously on the floor, on a stool or just hanging about. Must remember to measure it before I go. I am not looking for anything else....We'll see how I do in the self discipline stakes...I hae a big list of jobs to do before next Friday, hoping to cross off most of them, laying some vinyl, put up some curtains, change a curtain, empty the living room of clutter, work out my cooking timings etc. I tried a cornbread last night, it's really nice tasting but didn't rise so I need to tweak that recipe a bit.Nanny, lovely to see you, if it helps, I always worry about what I have and what I have to get until the day before and then think, well, I've got what I've got and can't do any more. If I could extrapolate that to work for two weeks before I'd be less stressed..anyway, it never seems to matter in the end anyway, everyone always seems quite happy with their gifts. Bigger is not always better....And I think we always put too much pressure on ourselves to hit perfection. Good enough is fine too, we don't live in adverts
Hope you can shake off the stress...weenancy, good idea too! Scarlet, hope the meal together will ease his grief a bit. I found most people don't like to talk about people who have died, me, I want to remember them so I talk about them. Coxy, speedy crocheting! TA, you can get cheaper ones, but in different styles but they are proper quality items and should last for years. Very very warm too. And maybe it's time to reinstate the trips? Gers, what a great idea, I have to contort myself under the stairs to take my meter reading, I love it! I do love a Christmas market too though. Hope the blood pressure goes down. ...Rosy, happy knitting to you too! Nels, hope your water dudes turn up soon, it is a worry...Look after yourselves all, and don't forget unconditional support always here....

Morning all, the sun is shining but my it's cold, brrr! I had a productive day yesterday and the bedding almost dried so it's now on the airer in the spare bedroom and getting some sun this morning too. I also scrubbed the kitchen worktops and the wall tiles as they looked rather grubby. The rubber seal and the drawer of the washing machine got a clean too, there was such a build-up of sediment. Today I'm making my xmas cakes, told you I was behind, I normally make them in Oct, but I'll put them all in the oven together thus doing my bit for the planet and our pockets 😁
I've only been to one Xmas market which was in Bath and it was heaving with people, there were so many that you couldn't get near the stalls unless you were partial to getting in a scrum. It put me off ever going again, I can't cope with crowds like that. I too have done most of the xmas shopping online. I've still got to get some other things, but the DGC are done.
I think I'm procrastinating about those cakes, so I'd better make a start.
Take care all
