DVLA turn around times

Options
Hi
I sent back my driver's licence for a name change, IE inc my middle name as this is pasted on everything else we own/have, EG banks/pension/ni number/bills/deeds, you name it. We are considering going to Iran, possibly to see a good friend and I've been told they are strict on visitors from certain countries, hence having my name match exactly as per my passport etc.

I sent it away 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I'm aware there have been postal strikes and DVLA are behind. I rang them today but got !!!!!! off with their automated system trying to get through. I foolishly did not send it by recorded delivery but never had a problem in the past with anything going missing/etc

How long is it taking for a straightforward change like the one mentioned above, please?
Thanks.

  • Why would you need your driving licence in Iran?

I'll give you a guess, it's not to train their fighter pilots, lol.

    Anyone, please?

Have a quick google, DVLA news, some sources say they get 60000 items a week and last backlog was 400000 items so 7 weeks. Then the heating failed in the office last week for a number of days staff were freezing so I can’t imagine things went faster.
If them keeping your license stops you going to Iran, I would thank them myself. But each to their own.

My driving licence was back in 5 days. My V5 never got there so obviously never got it back and had to apply for a replacement at £25

If the application is done online like a new photocard licence or V5 it is only a few days.

Anything that involves them opening post takes weeks.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
