The £20 or so you spent on materials will be very quickly saved on heating costs. If/when you decorate a room and replace the flooring, it is worth going round putting a very thin bead of expanding foam between the skirting & floorboards. That will plug another source of draughts.
Did you lift the internal window sills and check for gaps/draughts at the base of the frames ?

I didn't lift the internal window sills - I just checked the sides and the top. That would have ended up causing more damage to the old plaster and caused even more of a mess. If I lifted the internal window sills it would have meant the inner wooden frame having to come off which would have meant more costs and work. When I place the back of my hand around the window sill and frames now, there aren't any noticeable draughts that I can feel.

I spent more than £20 on materials, and the gaps in some windows were ridiculous, they started from the wall on the inside straight to the outer wall.

I already have laminate flooring down on the ground floor, so I won't be changing the flooring anytime soon. When the room doors are closed the heating has been on for a while, and the room is staying warmer for longer which is great.
