Burning smell from dishwasher

Hi all,
We've inherited a built-in Beko dishwasher that could be about 10-15 years old, but hasn't given us any problems so far... Until now.
There was a distinct burning emitting from it during yesterday's cycle before it eventually started beeping/alarming before I had to switch it off from the mains.
I've inspected every accessible element and not found any remnants or plastic or burnt evidence.
Anyone got any tips?
Many thanks
Z

Time for a new one. Not worth the risk in attempting a fix0

OP
Unplug and don't use it again until you've had it repaired or replaced. It's not worth the risk.

Heating element probably burnt out, at that age it's not worth repairing, even if the parts were available, which is unlikely. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
