LPA fees

I started my Finance and Welfare LPAs 5 years ago and I'm finally getting round to updating the attorneys and certificate provider so that I can print the documents ready for signatures. However, there seems to be a discrepancy on fees, and I just wanted to get confirmation of what is actually paid.
On the Application Fee line it says that the fee is £82 (and this agrees with what the Help says), but below that is a large box headed "Confirm and pay" which gives the Application fee as £110.
Can anyone confirm that it is actually £82, and if so does anyone know why the discrepancy exists?

  • The fee is £82. It went down from £110 in 2017. It seems that you are  using the form you started with five years ago, and not all parts have been updated.

@Marmaduke123 thanks, that seems the most likely explanation, hopefully once I go to the payment page it'll have the right fee there.

@msb1234 yes I am doing it online.

Just a hint - once you've submitted the form / payment you have to print it all off and get it signed by everyone. Then the paper copy needs to be posted off. The first time I did it for my mother, I took out blank pages - it was returned and I had to resubmit it with all the pages, even the blank ones!

Thanks, that's good to know, I'll be sure to send off all the pages.

I'm not on any benefits, and my income is over £12,000 (although not by a lot at the moment) so I'm stuck with full fees.

Absolutely, it might help someone else. I did think about delaying it until next tax year when my income from pensions will be under £12K but this year's rise in savings rates means that adding on my expected interest income will take the total back over £12K again.

@msb5262 That's a great tip!  I had actually taken out quite a few pages (the extra attorneys etc) as I was filling mine in for my Mum last week. I guess this was wrong to do.

@SiliconChip My Mum also suggested getting a Solicitor to sign the documents (she had no friends and we couldn't figure out who could help us.) The person handling my Mum's money at this stage shopped around and decided Mum wouldn't be spending £760 on the solicitor fees for both papers.

Sadly, we no longer need those papers anyway.
