Pet insurance claim time scale?

I made a claim on my pet insurance policy over 2 months ago. Every time I enquire as to when I can expect a decision and settlement Im told they are "working very hard, as hard as they can to get through claims as quickly as possible and claims are now taking 10-12 weeks" I had to pay the vet upfront in the belief the insurer would pay out quickly, so having to pay a lot of interest on my credit card. Is this now common practice? I claimed many years ago for my previous little dog and it was settled within days.

Where are they in the claims process? A poster here the other day was saying their vet had sat on the request for a report for over 2 months... the issue may not necessarily be at the insurer's end0

The vet sent all paperwork a week after incident.0

I think that is an excessively long time, but if that is the timescale the company is working to not much you can do to hurry them up.
What I would do is once the claim has been settled, send them proof of the charges you have incurred as a result of their long processing time and see if they offer anything. If unhappy with their answer, you can refer to Financial Ombudsman.0
