I live in Scotland and am with Scottish power. They insist that in order to get the WHD you should apply to the DWP directly, ie it's nothing to do with them. They gave me a phone nr 0800 107 8002 which I rang. The automated answering system explained that if you qualify via the 'Broader group' you should contact your supplier. I contacted SP again and explained but they're simply not having it. 'Nothing to do with us' they say. Even the ombudsman echoed their position. 'We're just the regulator' 'nothing to do with us' Has anyone else been stuck down this Cul-de-sac?

I'm been banging my head against the same brick wall on this too. Scottish Power are taking forever and don't seem to understand the rules themselves! I've pointed out that we still have to apply in Scotland if we are in the non core group of recipients, but so far they just keep telling me they are waiting on others to take actions, such as the DWP, or ofgem.. feels like passing the buck as other suppliers have had their applications open a while already. They've had a message up saying more information "in the coming weeks" for ages now. A cause for concern for those of us who rely on the extra help of things like the WHD. Ofgem told me the SP applications were open, while linking me to a Scottish Power page which clearly showed they didn't have anywhere to apply yet for thos in Scotland. It's rather frustrating to say the least.

yes, Scottish Power's handling of this has been woeful with absolutely no info about when they would be open.  They are amongst the very last suppliers to open whd this year. I won't miss checking their website every day to see it they have opened it
