I had someone bid on an item today then about 10 mins later email me asking to cancel it as he was new to ebay and wasn't aware that he'd have to pay for the item if he won - he thought at the end of auction style listings he'd have the option to back out of the sale. However this did remind me of a Q i meant to ask about cancellations - when someone asks me to cancel a bid I nearly always do, but i'm sure they also have the option to cancel their own bid? Is there any kind of account rating or detrimental effect that might be applied to my account by me as a seller cancelling a buyer bid as opposed to the buyer cancelling his own bid? Is it better to get them to cancel their own bid?I might have asked this Q before, but i can;t rem the answer so apologies if i have.0

Meanwhile, yes a buyer can remove their own bid unless auction is nearing the end, however it does get marked on their account as they would need to choose a fake option as there isn’t really a mechanism to just change their mind. However , by the time you’ve talked a buyer through the process and had them ignore you it is quicker to do it yourself. It has no impact on a sellers account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
