How to get a roofer to commit?

Have a leak that we need fixing but also want quotes on a full retile come spring next year.
Ive used word of mouth from our plumber. Turned to a roofer we have used before and tried several noted on a local Facebook page but every time I think I have someone arranged to come and fix or quote.. they just don’t bother!

It’s been a month and 6 roofers down. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and water peeing in is stressing me out.

On the whole unreliable lot unless there is someone like the one we had now retired.

Fins a long-standing one that is local to you. we are in stormy weather season and they are busy.
  • Every well standing one doesn’t want work when it’s a repair. One told me he only does easy repairs and no whole new roofs anymore.

I live in a small town and have tried every roofer that’s recommended here and 3 from out of town too.

    Getting desperate.

Google those 'i want a tradesman site' etc and take it from there - if they dont show up you can leave them feedback accordingly.
Ask if its a free quote - etc.

Are you saying up front that you want a re-roof by the Spring? That's not that far away in terms of scheduling a big job so may put some off coming to quote.

Personally id concentrate on getting someone out for the leak and when there tell them that you'd also like to get a quote for the full roof.
  • No I’ve said we have a leak that wants a repair and have brought up the retile when they’re here if they turn up.

summer, autumn or winter next year doesn’t matter but can’t even begin to budget for it when we don’t know how much we’re looking at.

Personally, I'd do it the other way round. "I need a new roof", " Oh, while you're here ..."
