Dehumidifier recommendation?

Had a look online & if you want to spend like £500 then I'm sure you'll get a super one but I don't really know what's overkill & what's not.

Ours has given up today. Went to turn it on & you hear a click but it doesn't kick in. Fan doesn't rotate.

All we use ours for is the washing. What can go in the tumble drier goes there, stuff that can't goes on the clothes horse in the spare room with the dehumidifier on.

Very roughly, room is 3mtr-x-3mtr.

I know often you're asked for budget, but I don't want to say £70 (I think somewhere round what our existing one cost 12-15yrs ago) if that generally just gets you a crap one where for an extra £30 you could get one that is considerably better for £100. What I will say is I don't want to be spending these figures like £300+.

You can't really go wrong with Meaco, I have the MeacoDry Arete One 12L. Works really well although it is a bit noisier than I'd like. It also has a laundry mode.

If all you're using it for is laundry then check just how much you think you might save. Although a dehumidifier might be cheaper to run per hour if it's running for 6 to 8 hours or longer for your laundry it may well work out just as expensive as an hour in the tumble dryer.

what temperature will the room in which it will be used kept?
Dessicants work better at lower temps (say under 15C) than compressors but do cost ~2x as much to run for the same length of time.

What about clothing that specifies NOT to tumble dry?

Which is the clothing I said I put in the room with the dehumidifier.

As luck would have it, I have a thermopro thingy-ma-jing in that room.

Claims the temp is currently 17.8c.

    The radiator isn't on.

The display at the bottom of the stairs which we use to set the heating on/off and what temp will generally never drop below 14c.
